For teachers

Common questions about the House of Cave Books School Hub.

What is the School Hub?

The School Hub is House of Cave Books' whole-school digital library of Australian picture books. Teachers sign in and open every book, ready to read aloud on a smartboard or tablet.

Which year levels is it for?

The books are written for Foundation to Year 4, with a few titles suited to preschool and the very youngest readers.

What's included?

The school licence includes every current and future digital picture book. Teacher packs — teacher guide, smartboard activities and companion app — are sold as separate add-ons, not included in the licence. Packs currently exist only for Axle and the Web of Safety, Someone Always Sees You, and Jason and the Pristine Pool. More teacher packs will be added over time. Curriculum links are shown where available.

How does the licence work?

Your school makes one payment. The whole staff shares one login. There is no yearly renewal.

How much does it cost?

The founding price is $150 AUD for the first 30 schools. After that the price is $250 AUD. It is a one-off payment.

How are new books added?

Every new book is added to your school's library free. It appears in your library automatically — there is nothing to buy or install.

Can we use it on a smartboard or tablets?

Yes. The books open in a web browser, so they work on classroom smartboards, laptops and tablets.

Is it aligned to the curriculum?

Selected books have links to the NSW Early Stage 1 syllabus (PDHPE, English, History and Geography), the Australian Curriculum v9 for ACT Foundation, and the Early Years Learning Framework V2.0 for preschools. Book pages show curriculum links where available. A downloadable curriculum guide lists the mapped outcomes and pages to teach from.
